
Harry McCandless moved from New Jersey to Lancaster PA in 1979. In N.J. he worked at the RCA Labs. in research for 32 years, then transferred to the Lancaster RCA R & D division before retiring in 1986.
In addition to his career with RCA he has been painting for over 49 years. In NJ he was a member of the Princeton Art Association and the NJ Watercolor Society and won several awards in Princeton, Trenton and New Hope, PA art shows. He and his wife now live Homestead Village, a retirement community in Lancaster.
Harry is a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in chemistry. His art training included courses at the School of Industrial Arts in Trenton and the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design. He has studied in workshops in South Carolina, New York and Ireland.
In Lancaster County he has painted scenes around the Susquehanna Valley and in the Amish country. His earlier work included landscapes and buildings, but recently his work has become more abstract such as the woven watercolors that may be viewed on these pages.
